There are a number of rods and reels. The local market will try and sell you their basic model on the showroom floor. All fish are not the same and the water conditions are certainly different. Rods, reels and fishing lines all have rates and are geared for specific fish. Think about it this way, you would not be able to reel in the 200 pound Marlin with the supermarket $20.00 special. Or if you do it might be a dangerous feat for the rest of the patrons on your fishing expedition.
Choosing your equipment fishing gear sport depends on two things, your budget and the type of fish. The rod and reel will most likely be the most expensive fishing equipment that you purchase. Well, except for the boat! The rod and reel will have instructional guidelines that will explain the rated test curve, meaning how much weight they can withstand. If the rod is not heavy enough or supported for a larger fish you are liable to hurt yourself. Make sure that you are using the appropriate rod for the appropriate fish.
Knowing the difference between the different types of fishing will also assist when purchasing your equipment fishing gear sport. You would not want to purchase a fly fishing rod unless you are planning to fly fish. With fly fishing the “bait or artificial fly” is meant to sit on top of just below the surface of the water. If you are going ice fishing, a regular rod and reel may not be suitable. The best way to prepare is do a little research and speak to experienced fishermen. If you are not familiar with anyone that fishes you can always ask questions from fishing dealers online or in your local market.
There are a variety of sources for information on equipment fishing gear. There are CD’s, DVD’s and books that are available for purchase. These may cost you a few dollars, but the experience and advice can save you hours of time. Sometimes learning on your own can cost you hundreds and many uneventful fishing hours.

Saltwater fishing equipment is fundamentally the same as freshwater equipment, except that it is usually made to be stronger and more durable. Saltwater fishing equipment must be able to handle fish that weigh a whole lot more than freshwater fish. Also, saltwater fishing equipment must be able to withstand the effects of the salt within the water. When shopping for or renting saltwater fishing equipment, one must have an idea for what type of fish he or she is angling for, the type of equipment used will be more effective if it is catered to the fish you’re angling for.
Reels made for saltwater fishing are usually open faced and not closed. However, the type of open reels used is a bit different from the types used in freshwater angling. The saltwater fishing reel is usually made of tough, durable metals that are treated to withstand rust and other ailments. Also, its durability ensures that when you hook that blue marlin, your reel will not shatter into a thousand pieces.
Not only is the saltwater fishing reel more durable, so is the rod used. Reinforced composite materials are used to create a rod capable of maintaining structural integrity when reeling in a fifty plus pound fish. Since the fish in the sea are bigger, the test of the fishing line used has to be stronger. Saltwater fishing requires line tests of a hundred pounds or more. This is essential to catching almost anything in the sea.
Saltwater fishing equipment must be bigger and all around more durable than any other type of angling equipment even down to the hook. Hooks used to catch large saltwater fish are about ten times the size of a normal fishing hook. The hook has to be bigger to get a good grip on the fish and to be able to withstand a ferocious fight. Usually, saltwater fishing hooks are made of a stronger metal compound those normal freshwater fishing hooks. These hooks are usually baited with minnows or other small fish to lure the fish to bite.
So, in conclusion, saltwater fishing is a fun and exciting event to enjoy. It can become a memory cherished for years to come.

The hunt is on, but you have to make sure that the fish you’re after isn’t going to become ‘the one that got away’. The key is to have durable and effective sport fishing equipment. Although the equipment you decide to buy will be determined what specific model equipment you use, big game fishing is still done bare bones, that is, with a rod, reel and hook. But choosing the right sport fishing equipment can be difficult, and it’s important to know the basics about what you’re buying.
Sport fishing rods are usually made to tailor a specific type of fish, however, all are made out of tough, composite material such as fiberglass. The length and sturdiness of the pole is determined by what fish it’s designed for luring. Smaller weaker rods are used for smaller fish, while the larger thicker ones are used for larger game, like marlin. No matter what game you’re after, choosing the right rod is a very important part of having the right sport fishing equipment.
Reels used for sport fishing are the same used for saltwater fishing. The reels are usually open faced, with smooth flowing reel in. They’re usually made of resilient metal alloys and are designed to withstand rusting for a period of time. Cleaning your reel properly is an important part of upkeep, and can be essential to keeping your sport fishing equipment in top condition.
The real catch is finding the right lures for the fish you’re after, and there’s no shortage of variety. Usually, the sport angler will use a specially designed metallic object known as a ‘spoon’ to attract game. Also, special scent beads are used, as well as metal spinning ‘blades’, effective for luring in game. Again, you’re lure will attract a certain fish, so know about your hunt and know what attracts it.
Sport fishing can be a thrilling experience and a rewarding hobby, but remember, a fisherman is only as effective as his gear.

Deep sea fishing is one great activity that a lot of families enjoy. It’s something that can give you and your family momentous experiences and priceless memories that can last for a lifetime. The family bonding experience with nature at hand is simply indescribable.
If you’re new to this sport and wonderful past time, there are some things that you should know before you go on with your deep sea fishing trip. It is indeed one big adventure for you and your family. However, you should consider some things first to make your trip a successful one. Other than not forgetting to bring your camera, for those momentous snapshots, here are some things that you have to think about before even making some plans.
Judgment Time: Are They Capable?
First off, you should take a realistic look at your family’s abilities and age. Let’s face it, you can’t really maximize a deep sea fishing trip if you’re kids are still infants or toddlers. If you’re deciding on what kind of excursion to have, deliberating on these kinds of factors are important too.
In case you’ll be getting the service of a charter boat, this would play an important factor too, since most boat companies have set age limits. Generally, age limits start at about eight years old. You should understand that companies set these kinds of rules to guarantee safety on your part.
Additionally, you should consider the duration of how long you’d want to be on water. Most inexperienced fishermen would usually prefer half-day trips, so that it wouldn’t be that stressful and still be enjoyable for the whole family. On the other hand, lifelong and expert anglers would definitely want to have overnight trips. However, regardless of how long or short you have been fishing, you should still remember your family’s physical comfort would affect the trip’s overall enjoyment. Factors such as attitude and age play important roles on how can your family adjust with a temporary boat life.
Be Distance Conscious
Another important consideration is how far away your target fishing location is from your home. The packages that you may encounter can vary greatly, depending on the company. This means the provisions that they’ll give to you on the boat would also differ. If you will be travelling a huge distance just to fish, you might be more interested in availing packages that are all inclusive, which provides you with everything you’d need for the trip.
However, packages like these are usually hard to find, and of course, they are way more expensive than those for average day trip packages. An average package usually provides you bait and tackle. But if you’ll need a license, some packages already include it, while some can charge you extra for the cost.
Know The Terms
Generally, boats would ask you to bring your own hats, sunglasses, clothing, sun block, medications for motion sickness and everything else that you think is important to bring. Make sure that you are clothed appropriately with a number of warm layers, since it would be colder when you’re on water than being on shore.
Also, most of the day trip packages would ask you to bring your own food. If this is the case, you should plan accordingly. Try to pack items that are easy on your stomach, just in case that waters will be rough.
Any ideas?
